Now, no mineral compact is leak free. Not even the $24.95 travel compact from our most well-known infomercial mineral makeup company. The nature of mineral makeup is that it is loose powder, and loose powder is, by nature- messy!
Here is the manufacturer's information with this compact: They state that "Just enough powder is always on the puff and ready to use, each time that it is opened". I inquired with the manufacturer about this, and they told me that the puff would hold the powder inside of the compact's holes when the compact was closed. I personally don't feel that this would survive the jostling of some of your purses!
Here is my solution for those of you who want and NEED a powder touch-up compact and don't want to spend $24.95 on the competitor's version at QVC. All compacts may leak, this one included. Put ANY compact into a plastic bag before putting it into your purse. Do not overfill the compact. In the case of this compact, put only a small amount of powder inside.
Minerals are wonderful, as we all know... but travelling with them has always been a challenge for all of us! This is a gorgeous compact! It is not a perfect solution, but it definitely makes things easier, for touch-ups on the go.
The clear base unscrews, so you can easily add your minerals. The flocked sponge is washable, and it has a large, high quality mirror for viewing.
Please remember to always double-check the tightness of the base of the compact after screwing it on, and after using your compact...

Comments:this is so, so, so much better than bare minerals compact. there seriously is no comparison, at all. with the bare minerals, you load the powder & press the plastic over it, causing all the powder to blow up. can't tote it around because the container leaks the "precious veil" all over the contents in your purse. it's just a huge complicated mess.with this compact, you have no worry at all. load the powder in the clear part, screw it on, poke a few holes in the clear cover. the flocked sponge covers the holes & no powder ever clouds up the mirror, ever. i tote it about in my purse that take a severe beating & no speck of powder is in my makeup bag. all of my ultra resolution finishing powder is safe in this compact. it's just flipping PERFECT. |

Comments:I keep my powder compact in my purse at all times. I've had this for a few months; I've never noticed any leaking powder, so I am very happy with it! I also normally apply my Voile or Glissade with the Smoothy sponge, so the little sponge that came with this is similar, and I liked that too. This is a very good value! |

I put the little sticker over the middle holes, and just the right amount of powder is on the sponge when I open it. Comments:I suffer from having oily skin, so I need a little something to powder my nose that's convenient and quick to use. This compact totally does the trick! All I need is to put in a small amount of my Coquille Lilias and I am set to go. I do keep this in a small plastic bag in case of any powder slipping out, but no powder leaks out at all. The mirror is nice and big and the puff is very decent. I think I will eventually get another for touch ups with shimmery powder. |

Comments:So far so good, No spills yet.PRO: Affordable, easy to fill, nice design CON: Holes are too large, black compact case will show your finger prints or powder when you are holding it. I hope they will create a compact with smaller holes and the case with a different plastic so the finger prints or powder is easily wiped off. Tip: Tape up the holes with the sticker provided and punch in your own holes with a toothpick. Over all better than BE compact. I had one and it was bulky and just kept spilling out. Overall a very good product. |

Comments:This is my preferred method of carrying a bit of powder for touch-ups -- this compact is much cheaper and much less messy than the Handy Refillable Brush! I did use the sticker over most of the holes, and I've only had a teeny tiny bit of leakage around the hinge, but if I keep the compact in a resealable baggie it works great! The mirror and sponge are very convenient, and this compact holds much more powder than I expected -- if I were to fill it as full as I could, it would be several weeks worth! And if you don't like the sponge, you can easily carry a separate brush and use it with the compact. My only complaint is that the compact is bigger than I expected -- it works fine in my larger purses, but it's pretty bulky for a smaller purse. It would be nice if there were product dimensions on on the description page. Overall though, I would recommend this for travelling! |

Comments:I've been incredibly happy with AL since I've been using it (I'm fairly new to MMU), except I always got sooo frustrated when traveling, because I'd open the jar and there would be huge drifts of powder waiting to flow over the edge. But this compact is PERFECT! Now I can travel with my makeup without making a huge mess. Perhaps I'm tempting fate by not keeping it in a baggie, but I haven't had any problems with leakage so far. I find the sponge keeps the powder in very well, even without the sticker. Plus, it's sleek and handsome and I've never felt so elegant powdering my nose. :-) It's well worth the price. |

Comments:I finally had an opportunity to use my new compact when I travelled to another city for the day.First, I love the design and construction of this compact. Instead of having to lift the sifter to fill the compact, one only has to unscrew the base. That means no loose sifter to spill the product and a tight fit for the bottom. I had no spill from the compact on my trip. Second, the large diameter makes it so easy to use. The flock sponge is perfect but the compact is also wide enough to swirl and tap a brush. However, it is slim enough to fit on a small cosmetic bag. Third, it holds a lot of product. I could easily keep two weeks' worth of foundation in it. Once this compact comes back in stock, I may order another one for a finishing powder. |

Comments:I just received this today (thankfully, looks like they're now out of stock!) and just wanted to add more of a description. The case is about 3" in diameter (big mirror!) and is about 1/4" tall. I've already noticed you really need to make sure the top is screwed on tightly. And there are more holes in this "compact" than the typical Aromaleigh powder jars (there's 24 holes!). But I'll just cover some of them with tape and all will be fine. And it comes with a sponge-like puff that fits perfectly. HTH, enjoy! |
