1/21: The long awaited Opulent Lustre collection is here. A sister collection to our "Elemental Lustres" line, the Opulent collection contains all of the shades that you've asked for with the Lustre's amazing metallic effect, thanks to the addition of real metal powders to the formulation. This results in a breath-taking metallic finish and great pigmentation.

I was inspired to create this collection in Spring of 2008, when I saw the incredulously gorgeous photos by Patrick Demarchelier in the 2008 Pirelli calendar. Shot in China, these images can only be described as "eye candy"... you can't stop looking at them, the colors, the lush tones, the beauty. Link! Some of you had the chance to get sneak peak at this collection, when sample sets were offered as a prize in our October participation in the DonorsChoose.org blogger challenge. (Lucky ladies!)

Here are the Opulents... truly eye candy!

Color Descriptions: (Also click on "Color Descriptions" tab above to view these colors swatched on the skin.

Imperial- Cool true purple that glides on with the Opulent's metallic lustre.

Lotus- Cerulean blue, silvery and smooth.

Camellia- Muted antique rose, rich with a silvery base.

Azalea- Heathered soft pink-lilac shadow, but vivid with metallic sheen.

Dragonfly- Luscious turquoise-teal shade, glimmering like the colors of a Dragonfly's wings.

Tapestry- The much requested "black lustre", this is a rich, frosted black with an incredible depth of color and pigment within.

Butterfly- Purplish blue that glides on like quicksilver.

Tamarind- Warm purple-mauve with the Opulent's liquid metal effect.

Ginger- Slightly warm medium beige, but with a shock of metallic appearance when applied.

Lychee- Deeper rose-brown raisin shade that shines!

Cypress- Slightly heathered warm green with highlights of gold, but silvery smooth.

Bamboo- Warm tan, golden Opulent sheen.

Ginkgo- Lively yellow-green with the surprise of smooth metallic effect on application.

Tea- Pale muted green with iridescent green highlight, Opulent of course.

Cloud- A rich indigo blue, metallic sheen.

Mandarin- Fresh verdant green with Opulent molten metal effect.

Jasmine- Peachy pink, warmer than Camellia, but with lush silvery tones.

Fig- Not your basic brown, this has hints of rose and gold, and is luscious and metallic when applied.

** You can vary the metallic impact of this collection by applying over our Eyeshadow Primer, or with sealant. Dry application will give a lesser metallic effect, as will using a fiber optic brush. **

Our customers often like to see shades swatched on bare skin... it helps to decide on a color and also shows qualities in the finish of the product that you can't see in our swatches.

Keep in mind that these are taken with flash. Images taken in plain daylight don't show the liquid metal effect of the colors as well.

These are applied without primer or base.

Tapestry
By gothchiq on September 23, 2009

Comments:

Tapestry is a great crease color to go with any of the other opulent lustres. You could also dry line with it. It's a very rich color with dimensions to it, far from just a plain black.
Absolutely amazing

Comments:

I was shocked at how beautiful these colors are...soft, gorgeous and shiny like you wouldn't believe. They look like they are wetlined even if you just pat them on dry. So creamy and smooth to put on and really lasted all day! My favorites are Ginger, Fig and Mandarin- must have colors, these are divine!
great color selections and quality
By Vivi on April 21, 2009

Comments:

I'm not into metallic sheen, as to why I bought many MAC samples and don't like them, either by sending MAC pigments away or dump them.
However, this is a different story. At first attempt, I put too much to my liking and ended up looking like a real futuristic doll. The second time, I smartened up and started buffing and blending and used little amount. the result is beautiful yet rightfully glamorous enough for a day look.
The reason for 4 star: half a star off for not what I thought it would be; half star for the price. It's fine if I bought it on a sale, but normally, I wouldn't.
Pleasantly surprised

Comments:

I'd initially passed onto this collection and just picked a couple of dark colours. Later on, on a whim, I ordered a bunch of samples, and just *loved* the results so much that I had to order full sizes. The colours are rich, they really shimmer and cover the lid beautifully. "Opulent" is indeed quite a good description, and they get used often.

Lovely Metallics
By Decorative Diva on March 22, 2009

Comments:

I love metallics, but I'm not normally a fan of pale shades. Yet somehow, I still manage to find all of these shades beautiful, especially Tapestry! Because of how pale they are, I think they're great for everyday wear, yet they add a little extra with their lustre. I think most of these make beautiful lid or crease colors. These are perfect for those individuals who found the Elemental Lustres to be too bold, as these are softer, yet equally pretty.
This set is for those who love metallics
By Hoyden on March 10, 2009

Comments:

If you love metallic eye shadows, then you have to get this full set. No doubt about it.

Normally I shy away from metallic shadows, but I found several in this set that I just had to have.

Lychee - the perfect brown with a rosy hint through it. It really makes greenish brown eyes pop.

Fig - another brownish color wound through with a peek of rosy golden metallic goodness.

Tapestry - until I tried it, I couldn't fathom what was so desirable about a black lustre. I have to admit that once I tried it, I knew that I couldn't be with out it.

Ginger - when I couldn't make the wonderful looks that momof2angels posted using "gleam" look right on me I was really sad. That is until I tried Ginger and found the most awesome beige/golden color. This color has joined the ever growing list of MUST HAVE Aromaleigh full size colors!

Cypress - Another favorite of mine. When my friends ask me for a sample of my Aromaleigh eye shadows to try, this color is always one of the ones they pick.
Right on

Comments:

So far, I have only purchased a sample of Jasmine and a full size of Bamboo. I knew I was going to like them before they arrived.
Jasmine is just plain sweet and gorgeous. Bamboo is a delightful soft color if you don't want to go full-blown gold. I use it as a lid color and as a crease color. Goes so well with eyes with green in them, but I imagine any eye color can wear this beautiful neutral.
Cypress
By gothchiq on February 22, 2009

Comments:

This is just a delicious green. Very wearable, not something I would be afraid to wear to work, and yet also super stunning. Great with my pale olive skin.
greens
By Alex on February 14, 2009

Comments:

I love these greens. I thought I'd lke mandarin and ginko, but ended up liking cypress and tea more. The greens all look very similar, but with subtle differences which end up making it easy to fine-tune the color for your perfect match. I highly recommend sampling before buying. I especially love tea and the green iridescent effect.
Stunning
By Grace on February 11, 2009

Comments:

If I could afford it, I would buy one of everything Aromaleigh makes. These eyeshadows are amazing. I have the Ginger, and I want them all. My eyelids are the worst to crease my eyeshadow, have it wear off, and show the crepiness in my 44 year old eyes, but this eyeshadow is gorgeous and defies all that. Plus I have some pretty strenuous days, and the shadow does not flinch.
Amazing

Aromaleigh eyeshadows are the best mineral makeup shadows I've tried so far. I got Tea and I think it's my favorite out of any Aromaleigh shadow so far.
Gorgeous shimmery colors!
By Jennifer L on February 2, 2009

Comments:

I love the Elemental Lustre line so I ordered a complete sample set of the Opulent Lustres when they were released! These colors have the same metallic finish that the Elemental Lustres do. Most of the Opulent Lustres have a silver shimmer, although there are a few (such as Bamboo) that have a golden shimmer. Due to the silver shimmer I find most of these colors to be fairly cool, but that just means this collection is a great balance to all the warm shades in the Elemental Lustres line! I tend to prefer warm shades, but there are plenty of colors in the Opulent Lustres line that I still like:

I am irrestably drawn to anything teal, and Dragonfly, Lotus, and Cloud (admittedly more blue than teal) are all lovely colors for a more colorful weekend look! For everyday neutral looks, my favorites are Ginger (a versatile neutral that makes a great lid color to wear with almost any crease color), Fig, Lychee, and Jasmine. Azalea is the lightest color in this collection and makes a great highlighter.

Tapestry is a bit scary for someone like me who's never worn black eye makeup other than mascara! I have pale skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes, and worry that black would be too overpowering. I tried applying it very sheerly with a Fiber Optic brush in the crease, and found that it's a great way to darken a crease color and add some shimmer without being noticeably black! However, you can apply it heavier if you want it to look more black. I'm sure it would also make a great liner although I haven't tried it for that yet!
Shades!
By Staci Taggart on January 31, 2009

Comments:

I got my samples of these colors today! Normally I can't wear any sort of brown, but Ginger looks great on me! I must say I love Tapestry, it's a metallic black, prefect for anyone. I love goth style, I must say, and I am biased, but it, if applied lightly just gives a sparkely fresh smokey look to any other shadow. If applied heavily, it gives a metallic black look that is quite unique, and very elegant. These colors remind me of spring, and metallics, but without looking trashy. Butterfly is a nice light silver, almost like fume. These are both neutral and dramatic at the same time. They really are amazing. Kristan of Aromaleigh did an amazing job on these colors. The only downside is the colors are so pretty, it's quite tempting to my budget, though AL is so much more reasonable than the big names, and much better quality.
About my skin, I have cool toned fair skin, I use a mix of ghost white and cool linen, and I go for dramatic shades, but neutral ones are fun as well. Blue eyes and silver blonde hair. Hope that helps!
Stunners

Comments:

I am thrilled with these colors!!!! I ordered the full sample set and immediately couldn't wait to play. These have the perfect amount of shimmer and the colors are divine. I am wearing Lychee, Butterfly, Lotus, and Camellia right now and they blend seamlessly! You must get these!
Beautiful metallic shine
By Holly on January 29, 2009

Comments:

I love several of the Elemental Lustres for their gorgeous metallic shine and so I was excited to see a sister collection in the Opulent Lustres.

Not all of these colors appeal to me, mainly because i tend to wear neutrals most of the time and feel too made up in colored shadows, but the ones that do appeal ended up being winners.

So far my favorites have been Tapestry (it comes off as a deep, smokey metallic grey - darker than Smokescreen but not a true black), Ginger (a beautiful pale neutral brown that would look at home in the Elemental Lustres collection), Azalea (an ethereal pinky lilac) and Camellia (beautiful metallic rosy pink).

I think it's great that there are some really bold, bright colors here for those who are more comfortable with that look. I may eventually get around to trying a few myself. Dragonfly is looking somewhat tempting.
Shiny!
By azuresandstorm on January 27, 2009

Comments:

Oh, so shiny! And pretty!

I'm wearing Tamarind and Tapestry today. Just got them yesterday.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty...

These are wonderfully shiny with that lush metallic sheen. Absolutely beautiful. Slightly lighter than pictured in the round swatches, see the arm swatches for true shading.

OMG, I loved that calander. I based onw of my FOTDs off of it. So inspirational. Once I get the moolah, I am so buying many samples!
